The Frenchman is among a certain few superstars who are displeased with their summer move to Saudi Arabia from Europe and are looking for a way back. The 36-year-old has not been having a good time, and his relationship with the Saudi club is at an all-time low. During the league's break for the AFC Asian Cup, Benzema has not returned to "pre-season" practice with the team since going AWOL in December. Benzema does want to play football in Europe again, however, according to Marca [via football.espana], it will not be at Real Madrid as Los Blancos have closed the doors on any potential return.

Despite a tumultuous time at Al-Ittihad, the former Real Madrid striker has scored 15 goals in 24 appearances for the club since his high-profile transfer. Benzema's apparent exit rumours have also attracted the interest of Premier League giants Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, as they look to fortify their squads for the rest of the season.

DID YOU KNOW?

Benzema had a high-profile falling out with former Al-Ittihad manager, Nuno Espirito Santo just a month after his move. The falling out eventually saw the Portuguese head coach sacked from the helm despite positive results with the club.

WHAT NEXT FOR BENZEMA?

The Saudi club are also reported to be looking to sell the French striker and they will have until the end of the month to formalise a deal for the striker. If a deal does go through in January, it is likely that Benzema has already played his final game for the Saudi Pro League side as the league will only commence in mid-February after the conclusion of the Asian Cup in Qatar.
