According to Football Insider, Everton are “confident” of agreeing a new contract with Dominic Calvert-Lewin after some promising early discussions.

The Toffees striker has been in electric form this season, scoring 12 times in 28 appearances across all competitions, with ten of them coming in the Premier League alone.
Since Carlo Ancelotti officially took over the reins at the club with the game against Burnley, the 22-year-old has struck five times in seven games in the top-flight.

Football Insider claim that Marcel Brands is “working on tying Calvert-Lewin to a new and improved deal”, and that the Toffees recognise he needs rewarding for the performances he has delivered this season.
Statement of intent
Reports in recent weeks have claimed Manchester United are lining up a potential £50m summer swoop for Calvert-Lewin, and that no doubt would represent a major lure for the striker himself.
So if Everton can manage to convince him that his future would be best served by staying at Goodison Park, and that he can continue to thrive under the management of Ancelotti like he has done so far, then that would be a major coup for the Toffees.

The Merseyside club desperately need a proven number nine to lead their attack, and Calvert-Lewin is slowly starting to show signs of being exactly that. It would be a major blow if they couldn’t tie him down to a new, long-term contract, and a fellow Premier League side like United decided to sign him up just like they did with Romelu Lukaku. Brands simply has to work his magic and get this contract over the line.
